Drawings and prints form the major part of Albert Adams’ output, and it is an an intaglio printmaker that he excels. These works span his lifetime and are full of inventiveness, originality and humanity.
An exhibition of these works will open on 1 December at the Art Space Gallery in London.
The Rupert Museum in Stellenbosch is hosting a major retrospective of Albert’s work. The exhibition opened on June 8 and runs until October, when it will move to Durban. Plans are well advanced for an exhibition to follow in in Gauteng in 2018.
This painting by Albert Adams was exhibited by a major South African dealer, then misplaced and badly damaged. Now a team of conservators at the Courtauld Institute is restoring the painting.
This exhibition of paintings, drawings and prints created between 1950 and 2006 provided an overview of Albert Adams’ oeuvre, spanning more than 50 years and including works never before exhibited in South Africa.
The exhibition, curated by Marilyn Martin and Joe Dolby, opened at the SMAC Gallery in Cape Town on Saturday 9th April 2016 and ran until 21 May 2016. You can read a review here.
